NORTH MANKATO — St. Agnes’ run through the Class 2A state tournament came to an end Thursday evening, but not before the Aggies made a little program history.St. Agnes downed third-seeded Proctor 2-1 in Thursday’s quarterfinals before falling 8-3 to second-seeded St. Charles at Caswell Park. The Aggies’ quarterfinal victory marked their first state tournament win since they were a state runner-up in 1983. Large police presence seen at Hawthorne Avenue home

ALBANY, N.Y. (NEWS10) -- An investigation is ongoing after a large police presence at a home in Albany. A medical call on Hawthorne Avenue came in around 5:40 p.m. Thursday, police said. They were called to the scene after a report of a possible weapon inside the house. Get the latest, news, weather, sports and community events delivered right to your inbox! After a few hours, police were able to get inside the home and found a man unresponsive. They were able to wake him and took him to the hospital to be evaluated.As of late Thursday night, police had not said if any charges would be filed.

ST. LOUIS - Canadian wildfires creating air quality concerns in parts of the United States are also raising questions about air quality levels locally. The St. Louis region has seen a string of days with air quality alerts. “Air pollution can have a lot of effects on your health,” said Susannah Fuchs, director of clean air at the American Lung Association in Missouri. She said current air pollution concerns in the St. Louis area are different from what places such as New York are experiencing. Authorities back out of pursuit of suspected DUI driver in Los Angeles

Officers with the Los Angeles Police Department were in pursuit of a driver in a pickup truck suspected of driving recklessly and being intoxicated with a child in the vehicle. Police initiated the pursuit in the Santa Monica area with the suspect traveling westbound on the 10 Freeway before exiting at Lincoln Boulevard and eventually transitioning to the traffic-congested northbound 405 Freeway. LAPD ground units pulled back from the pursuit suspect as the driver weaved in and out of lanes and began to monitor the pickup truck the air. As the pursuit continued, the driver exited at Burbank Boulevard, but continued straight to stay on the 405 Freeway, eventually transitioning to the 5 Freeway and, later, the 14 Freeway. After LAPD units stopped tracking the driver, officers with the California Highway Patrol did not immediately takeover the chase. San Clemente beaches closing early amid increasing public safety concerns

San Clemente beaches will now close two hours early at 10 p.m. amid growing public safety concerns. The change was approved Tuesday and went into effect Wednesday night. However, it won’t be enforced until signs are officially posted at the beach. A unanimous city council vote approved the rule following a May 26 assault involving three Marines being beaten by a crowd of teenagers at the San Clemente Pier.The move addresses ongoing concerns over increasing public safety issues at the beach and nearby downtown areas. These Southern California water projects received millions in grant funding to combat drought, floods

California Gov. Gavin Newsom's office announced Thursday that 44 statewide drought and flood projects will receive millions of dollars in Department of Water Resources grants.In total, $217 million will be directed to increase water supply, combat flooding, and expand new water storage and conservation initiatives. An additional $71 million will be used to respond to local drought impacts. These are the projects in Southern California that received grant funding:Millions will be directed to flood risk management and groundwater recharge programs, including a $10.5 million grant to the Los Angeles County Department of Public Works. That grant will be used to reinforce the Santa Anita dam and remove sediment, which will increase capacity at the Santa Anita Spreading Grounds located downstream.
